Christopher J. Altenhofen, M.D.

Christopher J. Altenhofen, MD joined the EPIC Imaging family of diagnostic radiologists in 2000. He has served as the center's Medical Director since 2009. Dr. Altenhofen holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics and chemistry from the University of Oregon and obtained his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1989.

Following completion of a surgical internship at OHSU, Dr. Altenhofen attended the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. His distinguished service career included an assignment to the First Marine Air Wing in Okinawa, Japan as well as an appointment as Flight Surgeon with the US Navy Carrier Air Wing 7. Dr. Altenhofen remains active as a Commander with the Navy Reserve.

After leaving active military service, Dr. Altenhofen returned to his hometown of Portland and performed a diagnostic radiology residency at OHSU. He maintains current professional affiliations with the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American Medical Association and the Oregon Medical Association.

He brings to EPIC his expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic special procedures as well as his personal commitment to outstanding patient care and communication. A committed Oregonian and husband and father of four young children, Dr. Altenhofen enjoys an active and involved life. He has performed volunteer work both with the American Red Cross and Northwest Medical Teams.
