On January 1, 2010, EPIC Imaging launched its new Interventional Pain Management Division in response to a growing number of referring physician requests for additional resources for patients living with chronic pain. The division is headed by spinal intervention and musculoskeletal specialist, Rahul N. Desai, MD. He will provide consultation, evaluation and treatment of:

• Low Back Pain
• Mid Back Pain
• Leg Pain/Sciatica
• Joint Pain (including arthrography, aspiration, therapeutic injections)

Treatments include a variety of image guided therapeutic injections, platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections for tendon recovery, joint needle aspiration and pain injections and sports hernia evaluation.

About Dr. Desai
Dr. Desai received his undergraduate degree at Ohio State University where he was a full National Merit Scholar and his medical degree at the Medical University of Ohio. He went on to complete his radiology training at the University of Toledo Health Sciences Campus where he also served as Chief Resident.

In 2007, Dr. Desai was accepted into the prestigious Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Spinal Intervention Fellowship Program at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. During that time he solidified his love of MSK, sports medicine and pain management while providing these services to the St. Louis area's major league sports teams.

Dr. Desai has been practicing interventional pain management and providing musculoskeletal and sports medicine radiologic interpretation in the Portland metro area since the summer of 2008. He will continue to build these areas of interest as a valued new team member at EPIC Imaging.
