Overview

Oncology is the area of medicine dealing with all types of cancer. Generally, the radiologist specializing in oncology works in close partnership with the referring physician to diagnose the disease, measure its spread or progression and gauge the effectiveness of treatment.

EPIC's Role

Diagnostic imaging plays an increasingly pivotal role in the effective and compassionate treatment of cancer patients today. Revolutionary new technology has lifted the veil of uncertainty for millions and provided new hope for improved survival. New and better screening technologies have allowed cancer to be detected earlier than ever before possible.

EPIC is proud to be a pioneer in oncology imaging in our region. We were the first to offer a low cost CT Lung Cancer Screening and the first to install a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner. Many of our radiologists are active participants on hospital based tumor boards, providing input on overall treatment strategies and helping to establish community standards for treatment methodology.

Our dedicated specialists have built upon this technological superiority and developed unique and consistent protocols to ensure the best possible comparisons of images over the full course of treatment and follow-up. A patient who is scanned at EPIC can be certain that each test from the initial cancer discovery will be conducted in exactly the same manner with the same techniques to give the most accurate picture of how well treatment is working.
