Overview

When we think of sports medicine we tend to think of star athletes and dramatic injuries but it is actually a much broader field encompassing any type of injury caused by the repetitive use of a muscle, joint, ligament or tendon.

Sports medicine and repetitive use injury specialists are called upon to treat such diverse conditions as broken bones, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, chronic knee pain, problems due to ligament overuse and tendonitis.

EPIC's Role

Diagnostic imaging is a window into what is happening physiologically at the moment of pain. Is it muscular, skeletal, joint related or the result of a nerve disorder? Sophisticated technology serves to identify the cause of pain and help guide proper treatment.

EPIC's sports medicine team is uniquely trained to interview patients about their discomfort, to understand what induces pain and replicate these conditions during imaging. This specialized process provides a sequence of images that allows the radiologist to see exactly what is happening when you're feeling pain.
